Advanced Legal Career Development Seminars 2011

I’m pleased to confirm that I have been invited by the Law Society to speak at several events for the Junior Lawyers Division in Manchester, Preston and Liverpool.

Thursday 31st March 2011 – Manchester

Thursday 7th April 2011 – Preston

Monday 18th April – Liverpool

The subject will be Advanced Career Development. This has been formulated following consultation with the groups. In 2009/10 I presented the “Trainee Solicitor Survival Guide” to law students, trainees and NQs in the same cities, covering how young lawyers can make themselves stand out from the crowd in the increasingly competitive market place that confronts those looking for Training Contracts and NQ positions. The feedback from these events was very positive, but we wanted to present something different for 2011. The Groups liked the idea of something to help young lawyers after they have qualified. Managing a caseload, making yourself valued and developing your own legal practice will all be looked at in depth. The various options that are available for career development, including Partnership and its alternatives will also be considered.
